Kenya president sworn in amid opposition protests

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in for a second term Tuesday in what some hoped would be the end of months of election turmoil, which Kenyatta said stretched the country “almost to the breaking point.” But violence continued, with at least one person killed as police fired rifles and tear gas to break up a large opposition gathering.

During and after Kenyatta’s inauguration, police elsewhere in the capital, Nairobi, tried to stop the opposition from holding peaceful demonstrations to mourn dozens killed by police and militia since the original election in August. A witness said one person was shot dead, and opposition leader Raila Odinga was shoved into his vehicle amid clouds of tear gas shortly after he called Kenyatta’s presidency illegitimate. (AP)

@SonnyBS To get rid of "socialism" would mean getting rid of Social Security, Free Health Care for active and retired military personnell, Health benefits for politicians, Medicare, and many public Works departments in towns and cities across the nation. Banning Islam would be a violation of the Constitutionally guaranteed Freedom of Religion. These changes would not end the nonsense, but they would end the United States of America.

SonnyBrightside - 3 hours ago
Not worried. We soon will have SCOTUS, socialism and islam will be outlawed and punishable by death, and that will be the end of this nonsense.

UNH OH! You are in for thousands of socialist/demokrat anti-US thumbs down Michael, of course you are indeed right but Obummer has so divided this country that it is dangerous to say something like you did within earshot or where it is readable by a socialist/demokrat after all they are the epitome of beserk/anti-US/socialists.

Kenya is actually a single party dictatorship under the guise of democracy. It is what happens when only ONE party is allowed to decide what happens in a country. This is what will happen if we let only Republicans rule without the interactions of Democrats, Libertarians and Independents.
