These images show the eerily beautiful abandonment that can be found across the de facto Republic of Abkhazia on the Black Sea. British photographer James Kerwin ventured across the partially recognized republic earlier this year and came across train stations, hotels, bridges, and government buildings in varying states of partial ruin. Through his images, James said he wanted to capture the “architectural gems the region had to offer,” including these decaying staircases, eroding pillars, and monuments. (Caters News)
